The Swedish Research Council is Sweden’s largest state research financier and provides support for research of the highest scientific quality in all fields of science. They are responsible for six of the 13 Swedish governments national research programmes. All programmes are broad, ten-year initiatives aimed at coordinating research within a particular area. Each programme gathers those performing the research, those funding the research and stakeholders in society, to work together to improve our ability to manage the societal challenges indicated by the Government. Every year, they support Swedish research with almost SEK 7 billion.
